Value Add

I knew it!
In the James Clear email there was something I wanted to consider.  I also really did like a quote of his by Corrie ten Boom which said, “Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”  I have found that.
But it was this that I was focused on, “Focus on what provides value to others, not what impresses others…The things we do to impress others rarely impress them for longer than five minutes. But the things we do to provide value for others can last a lifetime. In the long run, one of the most impressive things you can do is provide exceptional value."
Reminds me of the old saying “give a man a fish and feed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime.”
To me it is all about value adding.  When I get a takeaway I ask myself “is this something I would happy to do for myself?”  I see value in supplying a desirable product.
Merril and I often visit restaurants.  One in particular has stood out to us.   The food is always good but the service is exceptional.  It is obvious they really care about the customer.  Even the chef comes out to us and makes sure all is good.  To me there is a difference between valuing the customer and providing a service only to feather my own nest.
Where I believe value has been added I will remain a customer as long as that is the case (or as is more and more often the case, until the service provider retires)
They say that each customer represents 15.  So if my experience is bad or good I will pass it on.  Each one of the fifteen represents another 15.
Therefore I reckon it is imperative I provide a good experience whether it be talking to someone or selling some product.  In reality one person is many.
