All Refined Like

​It is with some trepidation I face “Dictionary Day” again. I never have any idea what the word will be. Anyway, here goes.

Unreal. The word my finger fell on in the Australian Concise Oxford Dictionary was “purification.” I always follow through on the word. Well there was once I did not. I do not remember what the word was. I can’t even remember what the word was. I wrote about it but did not post it.

The definition of this word is “ritual cleansing.” When I look it up in Oxford Languages I see it says, “the removal of contaminates from something.” I can actually get a picture of something in my head with that one.

Getting rid of contaminates if often really important. I think of when water gets into petrol. It makes the running of the engine a not happening thing. Or I think of something as simple as a spray having a bit of sand or the like in it. It stops the flow of what is being applied and renders the spray useless until I deal with the contaminate.

I think this is an AI definition but it says “purification refers to the process of removing undesirable elements, contaminates or impurities from a substance or environment.” That definition I think takes it a bit further in that it talks of contaminates in any substance or environment. It reminds me of them getting rid of asbestos in mulch recently. Or again asbestos in building material. And what I see in third world countries is water that needs to be purified as if it is not it contains all sorts of microorganisms that kill.

So often something is undesirable because of its effect. What I was describing earlier showed something to be undesirable as it was an inconvenience. Other stuff is undesirable because it can kill.

I know there is something in my, and human, nature that needs to be purged. I just need to look at the effects to see that is the case. From what I see it is a universal need. Fortunately, it is happening and I like what I see, when I see it
