You Can't Do That!

You can’t do that!  Errr who says?
It amazes me how often others try to put the brake on my dream or my vision.  It is probably understandable because it is not theirs.  It is mine.  If it was theirs, they’d think of a way to do it.
Sometimes what I am suggesting is the result of the pizza I may have had, or just something born in the imagination, that really should be nipped in the bud.
Sometimes though, what I am thinking or proposing, is something that is right and proper for me.  The fact that others have not been there before, does not mean it is not right for me.  Whether it has been done before does not matter.  I may not have done it before.  I may be blazing a new trail.  But so much of what we use are things that were born of something  not done before.
I love how things are here a little and there a little.  Behind all those “little’s” is a person.  I remember talking to my boss at the time, about the black hosing and attachments used in gardening these days.  He said whoever invented that should be getting royalties from it.  I like that.  When someone does the hard yards, they should be rewarded.  I guess it is why I am so big on artists being entitled to royalties.  If I do the work, I should reap in the rewards if I want them.
It is important I don’t think of what I may be doing as the most important thing happening.  It is for me, but it needs to be combined with everything else that is happening before a picture can be taken.  What matters to me, may not matter to someone else as much, but that does not mean it does not matter.
Not everyone is going to understand my desire.  Sometimes there is intense opposition.  I think in particular of people put down all their lives.  Told they would never amount to anything, or they are no good.  Thankfully, that need not be the end of the story.
What is right for me is right for me.  It is not for others.  It is for me.  I have a choice.  I can go after it, or decide it is all too hard.  I remember hearing someone say they were sick of hearing of potential.  Potentially something may be mine.  Between now and its realization may be a lot of hard work and disappointments.
I strongly believe that nothing happens unless I make it happen.  I can hold to something that is potentially mine, but it will never be mine unless I go after it.  Saying something does not make it so.  Even doing something is no guarantee.  What is guaranteed though, is if I do nothing then nothing will happen.
I need to continually ask myself, do I believe in this, and do I believe it is what I am supposed to be doing.  If I answer yes, then I need to go for it despite the misgivings or opposition of others.  They need to get on board or get out of the way because I am determined it will happen.
