Yard

I am so not looking forward to this.  I am sure once I start I will get inspired, but I am not there yet.
I like our front yard.  It sorta looks wild.  It is called a bush garden.  We are planting native plants there.  Some are successful and some are not.  There is a shrub that died I need to dig out.  On the whole it is working.
It is the weeds that get me.  Fortunately they are big ones and pulling each out will make a real difference to how it looks.  Weeds seem to be the only plant happy in a drought.  I have mulched the area and I feel like I am having a win, but it is more gradual than I would like.
It is weird but in this instance grass is a weed.  I planted all these trees so that mowing would be a thing of the past.  Mowing now is a thing of the past but it has been replaced by weeding and I think I prefer mowing.  Mind you the grass that was there was like Claytons grass.  From a distance it looked green and looked like the goods, but up close it was horrible stuff and it needed digging out.
Now real grass has come along.  Trouble is, it is in the garden where it is not wanted.  It seems to be growing so well there.  It has to go.
For contrast we planted a rose there.  It really thrived and looked great.  Flowers galore.  The thing is it spread.  Basically it took over.    We get no pleasure in doing it, but it has to go.
A saying I have used before seems to really apply to our garden. “Everything left to itself tends to decay.”  It is true of our garden.  It needs maintenance.  Each task will really not take much but add them all together, and there is several days of work.
I have not mentioned the front edging.  I have tried several things. None of which I have liked in a lasting fashion.  The last one was the worst.  It did not hold together and one of the parts was at a really odd angle.  I decided nothing was better than that.  That is where it is at.  Nothing.
If one can have neighbour envy then I have it.  Across the road they built a wall and to me it looks really smick.  I know the stuff they have used, and I could do it if I wanted to invest in the stuff.  But I guess I am tight.  I have come up with another plan which in my head looks good.  Reality may be different though.
Speaking of edging we went to Bunnings last night looking for a light-weight battery operated wiper snipper.  We have one now.  Hope it works.
We have a mate who would have given us one of his wiper snippers except for a bad experience.  None were working (he had four) so he got them all serviced and ready to go.  He had never used them and when he went to use one, they had all been stolen.  The timing was terrible.  Better to have them stolen before the money was spent to get them working.
I really should get started while it is early and cooler.  It will not be long before working in the yard is both hot and dangerous.  Seems like a reasonable excuse to me.
