Worth Fixing

I do not know how true it is but they say when we break a bone, when it fuses together again it is stronger than what it was originally.
I find few things as satisfying as fixing something that is broken.  Ok I have not experienced it a lot, but I have experienced it and it felt good.
I had a guy do some work for me.  He was getting long in the tooth and it would not surprise to hear he had retired.  He told me about his you beaut Dyson vacuum clearer.  I must confess I do not have much experience with vacuum cleaners, but others do, and I like the results they produce.
Anyway, his was so good that when his kids left home, they wanted one themselves.  Just as well he knew what he was doing really as they needed two to make one good one.  Really seems to me to be a sign of the times.   If it is broken just throw it away and get another one as it is not worth fixing.
I guess that is one of the reasons I like the thought of fixing something that is built to last.  In this day it seems to be popular as well to repurpose something.  I like that though it is understandable that companies want me to keep spending money on their product, but I reckon they have gone too far.  Built in redundancy.
What Merril and I are experiencing lately is Printer manufacturers having their product only work with their toner cartridge.  It is built into their chip.  If the chip is theirs, I can print.  If it is not, I cannot.  What gets me too is they do updates over the web whereby something that worked once no longer works.  It is our personal battle.  We have purchased printers that would work with remanufactured toner cartridges only to have them no longer work because of an update.  Thankfully toner companies are on to that, and have a new way of dispensing their cheaper toner that works fine (boy fine – not girl fine).
To me, anything that is built to last is worth fixing.  I reckon the guy I bought a home off ripped me off.  When I inspected the place the pool pump was working well.  When I moved in, it was not.  I reckon he swapped it.  I am not bitter and twisted but I’ll get him.  Boy will he be sorry.  I will make it hard for him….in love of course.
I took it to a place that could do it, and they fixed it.  That was over 12 years ago, and that thing is still doing all that is asked of it.    Worth fixing.
To me the same goes for human beings.  Worth fixing.
