Work Day

25/6/2024

There are days I am really into working and days I am not.
Monday was a “not” day.  We were expecting someone to come and clean the gutters.  They did.  We were also expecting someone else around to give a quote on cutting back some trees.  They did not come and when I asked them what time they were coming they rightly said I did not get back to them.  What they failed to acknowledge was they had gotten back to me and told me they were coming.
My thinking is based on what I have read, so I look for the good in seemingly bad situations.  Sometimes it is hard to find and only becomes obvious down the track.  That is what happened this time.
Anyway the upshot of their not turning up was they said they would come the following day to give a quote.  Another company was coming as well, and they came first and gave what I considered a reasonable quote.  The other fella came, and I expected his quote to be much more, and it was.  The reason I thought it was going to be more was that when I first contacted them, they sounded like a big player.
I mentioned I had another quote that was way less and included us keeping the mulch.  He totally surprised me by quoting a lesser amount and doing it right away.  I took him up on the offer and it is all done.
Fortunately it was a day I had a mind to work.  When he came I had been working on the front and had cleared everything out of the way.  It was perfectly set up for what transpired.
In the afternoon I finished spreading mulch and clearing the front side garden (it has been a dream of ours and had become a place we thought snakes could really like – there were none seen}.
Sleep was not a problem.  More was achieved in the day then I dared dream possible.
