Winton

We are at Winton right now.  We like this place.
Today we went to the Age of the Dinosaur park and saw bones of dinosaurs transported to where they are kept now for preservation.  What we really like about this joint is that attractions are community driven.  The guy that started the Age of the Dinosaur Park recognized the need to do so.
Merril was so right when she said that some attractions reminded her of lining up at sea world or the like.  It is like attractions have been highjacked by big business.
What we have enjoyed most on the trip are the places run by and for the locals.  We went to one place that charged like a wounded bull for something that cost next to nothing elsewhere.   The one that charged next to nothing was the one we enjoyed most.  We are finding the places we have the best time are the places created by the locals.
We sort of feel that once we reach Townsville we are on the home straight.  That is the town I was born.
There is one couple we have seen a couple of times.  We first saw them at the church we visited last weekend.  We saw them again yesterday at Winton.  He is very much into music.  They come from Wollongong.
Today we are up early and have a big trip in front of us.  We are heading for the coast.  By road it is five hours plus.  The roads have been good so far.  The first part today the road is called a Developmental Road.  It is supposed to be sealed all the way.
It seems the west is being more and more tamed.  Plus it has been a good couple of wet seasons.  I have never seen the place as green.  Last time I was here Wonton was a small dusty outpost.   It is looking really great right now.
Up early for the trip.  Time to get ready to go.
