Where is this going?

While I had items I had written but not posted, I used them when I was at a loss or was short on time.  I came to the end of them a while back.  These days it is always something fresh.
Some say “why do it?  There is no compulsion.”  That is true.  This has been totally my choice.  But why?
Really the reason is quite simple.  I want to account for the thoughts of the day.  Sometimes it is just a recounting of the day’s events.  Sometimes it is an attempt at humour.  Sometimes it is an attempt to put into perspective what I have been reading. And at other times it is an attempted summary of what I have been considering that day.
I read something by an author called Sarah Hepola, that I both disagree and agree with.  It was on change “Change is not a bolt of lightning that arrives with a zap. It is a bridge built brick by brick, every day, with sweat and humility and slips. It is hard work, and slow work, but it can be thrilling to watch it take shape.”
I disagree with change not ever being a bolt of lightning.  Sometimes I reckon it is.  Sometimes the world changes in an instant.  An unexpected death or a posting far from where I am at present.
But mostly it seems change is a brick by brick thing.  It is slow.  It is painstaking work.  It starts as something I my head.  As she says it can be hard and slow work.  But I do agree it is thrilling to watch it take shape.
I am reminded of a lot of the road work I see done.  Often it takes ages.  Areas need to be reinforced.  All sorts of skills are needed at the right time.  Then one day it is finished.  I do always marvel at that.  Something that takes ages to do is driven over in a matter of seconds.  Someone unaware of what was needed has no idea.  All the painstaking hard work bears fruit of convenience and security for the user.
So often it is that way for me.  It may be just work around the house.  Initially all that is seen is a mess and  preparation.  Then the job is finished and mostly only garners a passing glance.  Maybe I am the only one aware of the work involved.
But mostly it is worth it.  Something initially only in my head comes to pass.  I may not like change, but I do find that mostly change is about improvement.  It may not be easy but most worthwhile things are not.  And mostly it is an opportunity to grow.
I am into it.  I may come to it kicking and screaming, but I know  often it is for my good.
