When, Then

When, then.  I really do not know if that thinking is any good for me.  Particularly seeing as the only “then” I have any assurance of is now.  The Dreamworld jingle used to say “Don’t say one day, that day may never come.”
There sure are heaps of things I want to do, but some things just have to be done now.  Merril has her tasks around the home and I have mine.  One of mine is washing up.  I remember seeing in the movie “Young Einstein,” the dishes piled high.  It makes me think, things can be delayed, but they must be done.  It was always a terrible feeling knowing a deadline had past and I had not done it.
I wash up every day.  It matters not if there is heaps or a tiny amount.  I have decided that I will do it daily no matter what.  That ensures a fresh start.  I am big on a fresh start.  All washing up is done and all benches are cleaned daily.  I would certainly prefer to be doing something else, but that stuff never goes away.  Bit like dust.  It is cleaned away and it returns.  Never ending really.  The same applies to weeding despite my best efforts to alleviate the need to do it.
Some things just have to be done.  Some things it would not matter if it was never done.  It is just my bent.  I want to do it.  Like stamp collecting.  I do not have to do it.  The world goes on if I don’t do it, but I choose to do it.
That is one of the reasons I am big on lists.  Not only does it help me not to forget things, but it helps me organize things.  A list lets me know if it is possible to do something.  It may be that what I want to do is just not possible to do as there are too many other things.  It may of course mean that I cannot do it now, but all being equal I will try to do it later.
I must admit my lists contain less these days.  Still, it is a great feeling of satisfaction to be able to cross off what is there even if the list may have once been bigger.  I so don’t want my saying I can’t to be more a lack of organization then the fact that I really can’t.  I don’t want to be a puteroffera unless of course it really needs to be put off.  It may be a case of I can’t now, but that does not mean I can never.
As is said “there is no time like the present.”  To me it really could be said “there is no time but the present.”  If I can I need to “do it now” (as someone pointed out Nike says).  That goes for daily stuff and stuff I feel is right to do.  Doing it tomorrow may end up just wishful thinking.
