What Matters

CSo we have had a resignation.  To some they would never be guilty, while to others they would never be innocent.  Simon and Garfunkel put it well when they said “all lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest…”  There is no doubt there would be some who would base their decision on what is known, without any agenda.
What concerns me most is the moralizing I hear.  It is as though this persons indiscretion makes them a bad person.  There was an advertisement that said, “I have found there is good in bad people, and bad in good people.”  I relate to that as I am one of them.
Why I am concerned about the moralizing is that everyone has a weakness.  Some are obvious while others are not.  Just because a person is caught out does not make their accusers a better person then them.  To me, it may be that their imperfection is not as obvious.
I do wonder when someone is caught out and apologises, are they sorry for their deed, or that they got caught.   Still an apology is better than none, as I am led to believe a psychopath feels no emotion.
I am reminded big time of “he who is without sin let him cast the first stone.”  Everyone left – from the oldest to the youngest. No one threw a stone.
A guy on an album called “Love Them While You Can” (talking about loving parents while they are around) had a song called “Give up Yourself” in which he said “every man has his belief, his own point of view, on everything from big to small.  Some of them we must defend with everything we’ve got, some of them don’t matter much at all.”   Some things matter.  Many don’t.  I knew one person who said they knew a couple that disagreed on everything.  If one said the sky was blue the other said it was grey.  Personally I let a lot go through to the keeper.  If it matters to me I will defend it.  If it does not matter to me - keeping the peace matters more.
Everyone has issues.  I am in no position to judge.  Sure I form an opinion and act on it, but I don’t pretend I am better than someone else.
I have not walked in their shoes, and I have enough trouble dealing with myself.
