Wet

Wet
It is wet.  And rainy.  Not the torrential rain we have seen but constant drizzle.  Hour after hour of it.  It came in late yesterday.
I had spent the morning making two piles. One pile was in the trailer.  Predominantly grass cuttings and palm tree leaves (they fall over from a tree next door.  That is ok, I do not mind collecting them.  They have a daughter diagnosed with Leukemia.  Their lives have changed big time.)  The other pile was tree branches.  It is for our second trip to the dump.
There are some things I guess I will never understand.  Like why is a trailer much smaller than a semi-trailer?
Anyway, today was going to be dump day.  We were going to take the trailer and unload the green waste and then get some mulch for the yard.  But it is raining.  Not a “looks like rain” scenario that features a sea of blue sky and a tiny cloud but a set-in kind of rain day.
The trip to the dump can wait.  It is not like there is a time frame on this and we just must get it done today.  It would be nice to.  We had planned to.  But our plans have changed.  We will wait till it is drier.  It will happen, but not today.  In the meantime though, I want to keep working on the yard.  It looks way better, but this delay will provide us with more time to deal with roots.
I am actually looking forward to hitting the garden with mega mulch.  The stuff we get is from the dump.  What I really like about that stuff is it is recycled.  I have used it before and I know we need to be careful we do not import new weeds.  Also it contains a bit of plastic that no one taking delivery knew was there.  I have found both easy to deal with and as a percentage of the volume it is infinitesimal.
I just have a problem with cutting down majestic trees in forests to turn them into mulch.  It seems such a waste to me.  I am not one to lock up all our resources, but I am keen to see them harvested responsibly.  A while back a tree was cut down and someone went to work to make more than mulch from it.  The two things I remember they produced was a guitar and desk.
I must confess I have a problem (but I am sure you already knew that).  There are movements that are attempting to force conservation on us.  Desires are right but it is human nature I have a problem with.  I look at protests and see the amount of rubbish left behind.  To me change has to come from within to be effective.  That that is forced on someone only lasts with force and produces resentment.
So the rain is a delay.  It does not change our plans, but it is for a future further off.
