New Dinosaur

We have a new dinosaur on our letterbox!
I guess we are a bit excited about that.  I have had a dog (Sam) and a cat (Sophie) I have had to say good bye to.  That is not easy.  I must admit though, I never thought I would pine for a toy dinosaur.
We have keep our eye out (not literally) for another dinosaur.  Until recently the only ones we had seen were a part of a franchise.  Jurassic Park.  They looked great but were expensive (our previous one, and only one, vanished Halloween night).  The last thing we wanted was a dinosaur disappearing because of its worth.  We thought there must be cheaper dinosaurs out there.   I had looked in the Reject shop and a discount store, along with Kmart and Woolies, to no avail.  Merril was shopping and went into Toys are Us.  They had a packet of them.  That is what we have.  One is a herbivore and is not likely to influence the postman, so we have a more savage one there.  I don’t know its type, and to be honest the way the postman laughed when he knew I was taking pictures of our dinosaur, I really do not think he is having the desired effect.
I think it might be my turn to name something.  Merril has recently named the crow that visits us.  It is called Errol.  If two crows visit us they are Errol and Corey.  We occasionally give Errol an egg.  He likes them.  He uses his beak to open them.  He eats them shell and all.  I think I will name this dinosaur Rex.  Ok it may mean it is Rex T Rex but I can live with that, and he will have to.
It has been a while since we had a dinosaur guarding our letterbox.  This one is whole, and potentially more dangerous.  We will definitely let him sleep inside at Halloween, but the rest of the time he is to look threatening.  His size could be seen as a negative, but as they say it is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the fight in the dog.  I am hoping the fact he is an inanimate object does not work against him.
Speaking of inanimate objects, (ok the inanimate object link is tenuous at best, but I really think the rabbit thing is a classic and I so want to squeeze it in somewhere) someone who visited us Saturday night, told a story that so reminds me of one my father in law would tell.  The visitor knew a lady that had a pet rabbit that she kept in a cage.  The neighbour who had a dog, knew about, and appreciated the rabbit.  One day her dog appeared with a dead rabbit in its mouth, and blood all over its jaws.  The neighbour was beside herself.  She determined that since the owner was out, she would clean up the dead rabbit, and put it back in the cage, to make it look like it died in the night.

The next morning she heard a commotion from the owners place and went to investigate.  The owner was totally freaked out.  Apparently she knew the rabbit had died and had buried it.  She was totally startled to see her dead rabbit back in its cage.

It may only look like there is no life in our Dinosaur.  Rex may be ready to pounce.  Taking the chance may not be a good idea
