Watch It Fella

I did something yesterday I have never done before.  I binge watched a series.  It was called “House of David” and was on Prime.
The only reason we have Prime is that it is a part of our Foxtel package.  I did not know of this shows existence until Merril mentioned it, having been told about it by someone else.  We had watched the first two episodes previously and watched the remaining 5 on afternoon of my day off.  Merril had spent the morning studying.  I had made a big list of things to do but decided to wait a day to do them.  I did have breakfast with a mate early but apart from that I slept and watched tv.
I have read up about the House of David and can see the influences of “Lord of the Ring” and to a lesser extent “Star Wars.”  One of the guys who wrote the story credits those movies as influences.
What I really liked and what got me in was the backstory of the characters.  I have read about the people but had not given a lot of thought to the lives and influences on the people.  This series changed that.  While not claiming any sort of historical accuracy, apart from certain elements recorded, it portrays a “what could have been,”
I actually love creative writing like that.  It not only involves making up a believable story, but  requires genuine research as to the times being portrayed.  Also in this day and age the use of CG was employed at crucial times to give the show an otherworldly feel.  To me it was much like Lord of the Rings and the Narnia books made into movies.
I did feel the series was watchable and interesting not just to “religious” types, but as the writers intended, to anyone who wanted to get into an interesting story.
For sure it won me over but now it is back to that list.
