Warp

It is with a certain amount of trepidation I approach “Dictionary Day.”  I have no idea what the word will be.  It is always with a great deal od interest I look to see what the word was my finger fell upon.  I make a point of writing about it no matter what it is.  Sometimes I do not know the word or have never used it in a sentence and a certain amount of research is required so at least I look like I know what I am talking about.
Today’s word is one I have used.  “Warp.”  I don’t think of it in a Star Trek sense of going warp speed.  That I think is a tv thing.  I do not hear it used for planes or missiles or the like.
I think of it in relation to bits of wood I have and have used.  Mostly it is to do with building a fence.  A number of times I have looked at bits of wood to determine their straightness or otherwise.  Most are straight and can be used immediately.  It is a good feeling to build a fence bit by bit and see it come together.  After that is generally a paint and a walk away.  It is funny how it is a means to an end and once in place it is as it should be, and taken for granted.
Sometimes though when I come to the end of building the fence I am left with what I have and the pieced can be warped.  Fortunately with fences and the type of timber used a screw or nail in the right place straightens the piece of wood.  After a while the wood assumes the shape it initially has been forced into.
Probably a bit like me really.  Sometimes my thinking is warped.  It is straightened out when put in position and I am free to assume the role I was made for.
So that was not so bad.  Could have been a worse word, but it was not.
