Walk in the Park

Yesterday proved to be a pretty full day.  It started early and the person who was to cook got times mixed up and was a no show at the appointed time.
Merril and I realized something was going on, so we started cooking.  Merril was the chief cook and I followed her advise as she knew what she was doing.  All was done but the onions when the cook arrived.  They had been working on needing to arrive at 7am rather than the need to get there to cook at 6am.
Once upon a time I probably would have freaked but these days it is different.  I guess I have been doing this long enough and have help in an emergency.  It all worked out.
It was all over by 8.30 and some chose to stay and talk for an hour or so.  After it was finished, I went and had a rest.
But Merril was all inspired to do the yard.  I find it virtually impossible to sit by while Merril is working.  So I did a couple of things, then informed her after I got back from cleaning I would get into the yard.
It is what we did.  Merril had been at it while I was away and when I got back, I was into it too.  It was like a slash and burn exercise without the burning.
We have a big pile of garden material for the dump.  Really that was a first pass.  We know there is plenty more to come but it sure felt like a good start.  Start being the operative word.  I have been working my way around the house doing a tidy but I am feeling like I have a new priority area.  We sort of planted a “bush garden” at the front but it has gotten out of hand.  As a golf commentator used to say, “elephants go in there to die.”  It was pretty wild.
Still, inch by inch everything is a cinch.  We are doing what needs to be done a bit at a time and it is coming together.
