“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for” Barack Obama.  I’m not good at it.  It is not something I am dying to do.  Wait that is.  Often, I want it and I want it now.
Except I am not the sort of person to save $10 now by spending $200 on something I may need in the future.  If there are no bargains around, I am happy to pay the extra $10 when I know I need it.  Maybe it is a bit like Abraham Lincoln said “A man watches his pear tree day after day, impatient for the ripening of the fruit. Let him attempt to force the process, and he may spoil both fruit and tree. But let him patiently wait, and the ripe pear at length falls into his lap.”  I have no desire to force something, based on a maybe.
I need to be careful though.  I so believe in what the song “Turn, turn, turn” says in that there is a time.  I need to be careful I do not miss it.  There is a time to wait but there is a time to act to.  My mission (which I have chosen to accept) is to know when it is right to stop waiting and start acting.
I don’t know that anyone is born with the ability to know when it is right.  It takes practice.  It seems some are better at it then others.  I had a mate who said, “I’m going to buy up here now as the prices are about to go through the roof.”  Sure enough they did.  He made a fortune and I am still waiting. I think I am getting better though.
I do not believe for a second that waiting means doing nothing.  At one stage I heard something about “active patrolling.”  The soldiers involved did not see no mans land as being nobodies.  They saw it as theirs.
If I really believe that what I am waiting for is a goer, then I will make myself ready, so I am ready when it comes.  The last thing I want is to be taken by surprise.  I want to minimize the “what do I do now?” if possible.  That can only happen if I am prepared.
I like what I read someone said, “Patience is not simply the ability to wait – it’s how we behave while we’re waiting.”  I am big on the journey being as important as the destination.  Waiting to me is not like a blank.  It is not a gap.  It is only a waste of time if I let it be.
People say things like “when this is over, I will be happy,” or “when I have such and such, I will be happy.”  I think to myself, that is a lot of down time.  I know I do not like happiness deferred.  I am one who, in the meantime likes to do other things.
“Don't wait to be successful at some future point. Have a successful relationship with the present moment and be fully present in whatever you are doing. That is success.”
The things I do may not be my goal, but they help when I reach my goal.
