Voices

Click here Please don’t tell anyone but I hear voices in my head.  Come to think of it, more often then not they are actual voices, and my head is just where I hear them.
So much of what I hear is just the business of the day.  It may be the receptionist on the phone answering my question.  It may be the shop keeper who only accepts cash telling me that will be $188.85.  Just as a matter of trivia, that amount can use every note and coin in our currency.  Nothing can be more without something being repeated.  Another piece of trivia is how much I like a line in an ad at the moment.  It encourages someone not to use cash “like a caveman.”  It says to me using cash = being a cave man.  Some of course may want to be a cave man.  I think of Hagar telling Helga he was going to a big club meeting, and then asking her if she had seen his big club.
On the whole every voice I hear matters to me.  I would hope that what I say matters to others as well.  Some of my jokes though, I am sure could be left unsaid.  Merril has devised a scheme that totally throws me.  She agrees with me.  I have no where to go with that.
I heard someone once say that God does not count our prayers – He weighs them.  It is probably why the saying that there are no atheists in trenches assumes importance.  There is no-one saying that is only cry number seven.  Come back when you reach fifteen.  There may be no time to be elaborate or reach a quota.  I want it and I want it now.
Although I hear many things, many times, there are some things I may only hear once that mean a lot more to me, and I keep them for life.  I may have heard the check-out person say that will be seven dollars many many times and yet I forget them.  I may have only heard someone say something else once, and it is seared onto my brain and I never forget it (not intentionally anyway).
That is probably why the kids saying of “eat the worms and spit out the germs” became a guiding principle for me.  Much can be discarded.  Other things are worth keeping.  Everything said to me matters.  Some things just matter more.
So please don’t be surprised if I say something back to you down the track, that you said to me.  I may have mashed it up, and be putting it my way, but there is a good chance it will sound vaguely familiar to you.  So it should really.  You said it in the first place.to edit.
