Vision

I get a weekly email from James Clear which contains three thoughts from him, two quotes from others and one question.  One of his thoughts got me thinking this time.  I would modify the last paragraph to say, “you do not need a vision alone”.
A vision is paramount.  The word vision is a bit old fashioned to some.  I do remember saying vision to a boss years ago and he preferred “goal” or the like.  Whatever the word, it meant the same as vision which has come back into vogue.
The point being made though that I agree with totally is that a vision alone is insufficient.  A vision should be constantly returned to and updated, as new information comes to light.
It seems to me so often the vision needs legs.  It is not just a matter of knowing what to do, but how to do it.
So many it seems have vision.  They know what is wanted and dream of the outcome wanted, yet are unwilling to put in the effort to make it happen.  The world is full of unfulfilled vision.  Basically vision requires effort.
This is what was said:
“Anytime in my life when I have managed to go from a vision to a reality, the vision has not been a plan but a practice.
In other words, what matters is not having a vision, but rather making a habit of returning to and revising the vision. For the big things in my life, I'm always coming back to them week after week—sometimes day after day. As new information arrives, the vision gets updated. The dream becomes more crystallized over time. It's a habit of thinking about where you want to go with an ever-increasing degree of clarity.
You do not need a vision, you need the practice of envisioning.”
To me vision is one thing and making it happen another.  It is important I am willing to revisit a vision constantly and break it up into the parts needed to make it happen.
