Vision

Vision seems such an old fashioned word.  I mentioned the word vision to a boss I had at the time and he looked for another word.  However it does seem it is still applicable.  Just today I heard the leader of a country use it.  Hmmm I look up the synonyms in this word program and it includes revelation and prophecy.  Again they don’t feel right.  The word hallucination is included and that is definitely not what I mean. The words Dream, Idea, Visualization are also there, and seem much more today.
Whatever word is used, the person who runs the show needs to have one for it to go anywhere.  “No idea” gives birth to “no idea.”  Everyone involved needs one for their task.  It is silly to give a job to someone who’s heart is not in it.  Thankfully, people take what I think we call “ownership” of something, and make it happen.  It does not matter if a person is at the pinnacle of an organization, or at the bottom of the tri-angle.  A vision is needed from all concerned.
I have found that one bad apple can spoil the lot.  It is why it is so important to have the right people in the right job.  This can be frustrating, as the right person is not always instantly available, however in the end, the wrong person causes more pain.
What can be achieved by people with vision is exponential.  One person with a vision is great.  Ten people with one is awesome.  It seems what can be achieved is the result of more than ten people.  Based on their vision, the leader sets the direction and based on theirs, the followers make things happen.
I knew someone who had a vision for their job and did it really well.  The trouble was, they would not share the “how to” with anyone.  It was like they felt they would be needed as long as no one else knew how to do what they did.  This happens all the time.  Unfortunately the day comes for all of us, when we no longer do the job, and we make it harder than it needs to be for the person after us.  As they say “life goes on.”  We are where we are today. based on all that has gone before.
I was responsible for something that took a day.  A person had a vision for making that task simpler.  It ended up taking 10 minutes in the background while I did other things.  Previous to that, the day had taken two weeks, until someone else did something.  A mate of mine has been assured he will always have a job, though his present task is no longer needed, due to the job now being done by a machine.
To me, it is pointless us railing against the current visions of people.  It feels like trying to keep back the tide.  I feel like I am caught in the middle.  Too old to relearn, and I do not necessarily want to adapt.  Still, we have skills that are useful.
My vision won’t necessarily please everyone, but hopefully it will be ok now, make things better for whoever follows.
