Vengeance

Vengeance
To me it is a no brainer, but it is so much easier to say than it is to do.  In terms of the age of the earth life is quite short, but when day follows day as it does, it can seem really long.
I probably talk about the same thing sometimes, but that is the way it is when that is what is inside.  Guaranteed it will find its way out.
I am talking about kindness.  The choice is to view injustices as a temporary problem, or something I need to deal with, with both barrels blazing.  Rend Collective Experiment in a song “Find Your Kindness” sing, “When did democracy/ Become a paper chasing bureaucracy/ All of our hands got tied and we don't know how to be kind.”
To me there is a lot of truth in that.  It seems in out race to the top others get trampled and there are many lonely, hurting people.
I guess it is another thing I talk about a lot.  The song “Turn, Turn, Turn.”  To me there is a season for some things.  Sometimes it is the season of getting my back up.  But I need to be careful I am not justifying injustice.
I watched Australian Story last night about a little boy suffering dwarfism.   He was picked on big time.  The video his mum took of him crying went viral.  The reactions seem to highlight the best and worst of people.  A comedian who is a dwarf in the US saw it and started a crowd funding thing for him.  It raised over $400,000.
The money raised showed the best in people.  What happened next showed the worst.  People declared on-line how it was all a fake and let the ten year old have it.  They questioned his mum’s motives and famous people with many followers made declarations.
The thing is, they made them without checking the facts or the story.  One of them apologised but refused to until lawyers became involved.  Does not sound like a heart thing to me.
Kindness can be hard, but it sure beats the alternative.  Reminds me of that picture where the guy said I will remain looking beautiful and the picture shows the real me.  The picture became ugly.
I do not have that luxury.  I wear who I am.  If I dwell continually on getting someone back my thirst for vengeance shows.  So often it becomes my go to response.  It ends up not being one specific case, but so much of what I do is motivated by the thirst for vengeance.
Wearing who I am is true for all responses, no matter if I am considered beautiful looking or ordinary.  Faces tell a story.
When the response is a lack of kindness It becomes like an itch that cannot be scratched.  When I had Athletes Foot, I knew it did me more harm than good, but boy did I like scratching it.  Scratching it perpetuates it and spreads it.
To me, exhibiting a lack of kindness is similar.  Scratching it perpetuates and spreads it.  Besides there is a question I ask myself all the time.  What makes me different from the object of my lack of kindness if I do the same thing (maybe in a different form) as them?
