Veg

Well we have finally arrived at our final resting place.  Actually, I think I need to re-word that as it sounds wrong on so many levels.
If someone said to me, they had arrived, I’d be like “yeah right.”  As for final resting place it sounds like we have met our demise. The continued words sort of indicates this is not the case.  Besides, if we had, the page would suddenly go blank mid sentence.  If I was lucky the words would go across the screen “we interrupt this broadcast to bring you an important announcement..”
I admit I use the word important loosely.  I imagine its level of importance would be like a ripple caused by a stone thrown into a pond.  It would be really important to some.  It would affect their actions for a short while.  Others close to us would greet the news as sad (hopefully they would not be going “yes!”)  For still others it would be like “really. That’s interesting.  Now, what was I doing.”
Anyway, maybe I will put that first sentence differently.  Merril and I have reached our holiday destination.  We intend this to be our “veg” holiday.  Recently we spent a week in Melbourne.  It was go, go, go.  We had booked tours which were great, and downtime was spent exploring Melbourne.
There was one place we probably would not visit again though.  We like to try foods of different nationalities.  We saw a place that served food we had not tried before so we went in.  By the number of people there we just had a bad experience, or it was not to our taste as it were.  I can only think there are so many people in this place that they would eat anything. “If it moves, shoot it.  If it doesn’t, chop it down.”
One thing I did like though, and had not seen before, is it was up to us how much chilli we had.  It came in a little bowls.  I am not really a chilli person.  Chilli tends to be colour coded.  Green for really mild, amber for getting hot and red for really hot.  I am an intense green kinda person.  For some people the more the better, but not me.  I did try the chilli though.  A magnifying glass would have shown better how much was on the end of the tip of my folk.  Needless to say that was enough.
There was a time Merril and I were in a real hurry to be somewhere.  We ordered Thai takeaway with a view to sitting and consuming it before we went on our way.  Never have I had such hot food.  It was really hard to look cool with perspiration pouring from the face and constantly blowing my nose.  We would have a bite and a lingering look around before the next bite.  It delayed us no end.
For this holiday we have planned to do things in a leisurely manner.  If we want to go for a walk, we will.  We do not have to, but we will.  It is not like we have an appointment that says “walk, 7.20am.”  “See the pelicans rise majestically from the water.  Feel the sand between your toes.  Take a photograph of a tree that is the only one of its type in the world in this location.”  Nope.  We will go somewhere or not.  It is up to us.
The plan is to veg anyway.  We will see what happens.
