Veg Day

30/9/2018

We deliberately made the day a quiet one, but I so did not see that coming.  The Roosters beat Melbourne in the grand final.  I am fond of neither team, but I wanted Easts to beat Melbourne, only to stop Melbourne’s run.  I really could not see that happening.  There were 12 of us watching.  Two of us were going for Easts.  That was one in six or 16.666666667%.  I am pleased to say the 83 or so percent, had a quiet night – except for Doug of course.  Someone did something really good and he said the persons three brain cells must have been working together for that to happen.
It seems at the moment my support of any team is a death sentence for them.  I supported the Broncos and they were knocked out early.  Then I supported Souths against Melbourne and they lost 21/20.  I wanted Cronulla to beat Melbourne, but they lost by a lot.  I wanted Souths to beat Easts but that did not happen.  Souths to me represent the battles, while Easts seem to represent the silver tails.  Easts were definitely the better team on the night.  Their defence was outstanding and that did not change in the final.  Though I must admit I did not expect the flair they showed in the grand final.
I watched the lady Broncos beat Easts.  The Broncos were a class above to me.
After all our excitement, the last thing Merril and I needed was an expectation.  It is not like we did not do anything, but we made no appointments.  For us it was a veg day.  A relax day.  We went to the markets and got a couple of things and then did a couple of other things.
On Saturday I made a new path for cementing and came across a real snake.  I was very surprised to see him, but he went away from me, and I was really quiet pleased about that.  In my mind he was like 27 meters long, but really he was about a meter.  I do not know what sort he was, and only know he was black.
After the grand final it was a good thing for me that there were not half empty beer bottles everywhere, and there was not rubbish strewn as far as the eye could see.  Actually there was surprisingly little rubbish considering the night.  I moved things around to mostly where they go I hope.
I was surprised how little there was to wash up.  It is not like I was disappointed in the size of the wash up or anything.  Though of course if I don’t have to do it, then it matters not if it is small or large.  It seems though, no matter who is doing it, small is always better than large.
In the afternoon I went for a sleep as is my custom.  After that, it was time to watch the final in the rugby league.
The day was a quietie, but a goodie.
