Unique

I thought this morning something that has only taken me something like 720 articles to realize.  I see so much in absolutes.  I know others do not all view the world like I do.  I need to be content with me though.  This is me.  Warts and all.  Take it or leave it (though for my self-esteem I would prefer you take it.)
I am on this earth for a limited number of days.  The average has gone up, but it would be something like 27,375 give or take.  For some it is way less, while for others it is way more.
Thankfully, there are many voices in the world.  I am just a part of the chorus.  Fortunately for me there are others like me.  I actually should say fortunately for you – do you realize how lucky you are?!
I do not want to be someone else.  I want to be me.  Just as well really, as what do they say, “I can’t be someone else because they are already taken.”  The best I can be is to be the best me.  My DNA is unique.  There is no-one else like me (I’m not paranoid, but I heard that collective sigh of relief.)
I just need to be honest with myself.  It is one of the reasons I am not a utopia or nirvana man.  History has shown we never learn so why should the future be any different?
Naturally, I along with everyone else, gravitate to like-minded individuals.  The thing for me is though, I came into this world alone and I will leave it alone.  I can only be me.  I did not arrive as someone else.
I am a numbers man.  I know everyone is not like that.  Of course, I cannot help it if everyone else is wrong!  Actually, it seems to me that it is important I see what I am interested in as valuable.  I must believe in it like it is the only thing in the world.  But I should never fall into the trap of thinking it is.  If all buildings were brown I would find it pretty boring.  If a decree went out that from now on all buildings were to be brown, there would probably be an uprising.  It is not likely to happen, so I feel I am on pretty safe ground.
The thing for me is that we are not all the same and that is the way it should be.  It does take all sorts.  If I related it to the human body, I would find it a bit disconcerting if a huge eye sat opposite me for dinner.  If a racing car was only a huge wheel it would probably be safe to say it is not fit for purpose.  Cars need engines and steering wheels and a multitude of other parts to function as they should (I say “multitude” as this point as to say any more would expose my ignorance of cars big time)
I might only be a wheel, but I want to be the best wheel I can be.
