Unexpected Places

Well day two of our holiday was to me exactly the way a holiday should be.  No expectations.  The rain around was just the thing needed to get us into holiday mode.  We did go for a drive and had a chat to a lady who we call the “bird lady.”  We were actually really pleased to see her as she was not there the first day and we thought something may have happened.  Turned out she had something done with her eyes and had a couple of days off.  Her name is Dot.  We told her we will see her next week as we are doing the bird count that happened every year.  Normally we do it at home but this year it is here.
I did get my book and it has been added to the pile I have with me.  Merril got a book and bought a couple of CD’s.  She did what I used to do before Spotify.  When CD’s were on special I would often get them unheard as I like to give all artists a listen.  People often produce an album because they have something to convey, and my thought was if there is one song I really like it is worth it.
Turns out these ones were really heavy.  I don’t mind good heavy but in our opinion these were just heavy.  Even one that looked tame started that way but became something so unexpected.  None of them are ones we are likely to go back to.
I did look at some of the chapter headings of a book I brought up but have not read yet.  It is called “Completing Project Me.”  I reckon that will take a lifetime, but I hope this gives some idea as to what may be going on.
What I do like about the book is it is divided into parts (three) and after each part there is a summary.  Even if I do not get to read the whole book, reading the summaries will give me some idea.
One of the chapter headings I really like is called “The Least Expected Places.”  Why I like that is there seems to be such an emphasis on big events in a life.  Weddings, Funerals, Graduations, Kids.  All those are important and rightfully are given an emphasis they deserve, but so often to me it is the every day things that matter heaps.
How I respond to the big events is built upon a multitude of responses to the everyday things.  Getting the food at the shops, meal time, keeping the place tidy enough to keep us both sane.  There are an incredible amount of incidents that are not note worthy in themselves, but go to make up me.
To me I treat such things as unimportant to my possible detriment.  I need to be open to possibilities.  If I winge and carry on in a negative way about needing to do things that are the inheritance of us all, there is a good chance I will miss out on seeing how such things affect me in a positive way.
I have learned so much working, house cleaning, washing up, and gardening.  Many things that may not be fun are still valuable.  Sometimes a light bulb can go on in my head in the most unexpected places.
