Two Steps Forward

I wrote what I wrote yesterday and thought I would check my emails.  There was my weekly one from James Clear the author of Atomic Habits.  It always has some quotes in it.  One was by a novelist called Paulo Caulho that said, “ One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now.”
In light of the fact I had just written something with the title “Just Do It” I thought I would explore the subject further.
Not the Homer Simpson “Jut Donut.”  Though I must admit that brought back pleasant memories.  A Donut with cinnamon on it.  But why stop at one?  Is it Wendy’s that has two cinnamon coated donuts and a coffee?  What a combo.  No wonder there is often a line up.
But I digress.  I need to leave that happy place but thankfully there are others.  I really have no idea what I am going to write, but I do know it emphasizes to me the importance of now.  I know writing about such a thing is not unique or novel for me.  I console myself with the fact that no person is made up only of totally independent thoughts and ideas.  There is a body of thought that makes up a view of the world.
One of my views of the world is the importance of now.  It is stated often by others and myself that I really do not have the past or the future.  What I have is now.  What I do now affects my future – either for good or bad.
I have totally forgotten the context but someone was describing their life the other day and I thought “two steps forward and one step backwards.”  To me that sums things up.  I want my future to be good, and I will do what I need to do to get there.  Yet I know life is not one continuous upward projection like a graph.  It is up and then a bit down and then up further and a bit down.
I know I am thick and self-willed but what I want is more important to me than failing.  It seems to me if I really want something I should do it now.
