Turning Up

The consensus seems to be that an effective ad is one where the product is remembered and often it has a catchy line.  Merril and I often quote an Aldi ad that showed a shark circling food and the voice over saying “go on, get.” “Should have gone to Specsavers” is to me a pretty good sell and “oh What a Feeling” has lasted decades.
So maybe the ad I am thinking of right now is not that memorable, but it does contain a phrase I think is spot on.  I do not even remember it word of word, but it says something that the gist of means, “sometimes just showing up is a step in the right direction.”
I personally find that memorable because I have found it to be so true in my experience.  Often it is when I do not want to go to or do something, that I need to go or do it the most.  I have also found the less I go the easier it is not to go.
Naturally sometimes that is a good thing.  It is sometimes good to avoid what is too strong for me.  At other times it is going on fatal for me not to go.  There are times where doing what I do not what to do is the best thing I could do.  Yet I give into not wanting to.  That is really hard the first time.  The next time may be hard but a little less so.  Eventually not going is the norm.  Not the best but the norm.
Lol - sometimes for me personally it seems not going is more work than going.  There is so much I need to put in place because everything has been built around my being there.  My not being there means putting in place other things at a moments notice.  Often it also means inconveniencing others as they had their activities organized and they need to be changed.
But what is most important for me is that I ask, “why do I not want to go?”  and “”in what way will not going benefit me in the long term?”  To me having a rest is often legitimate.  At other times a “rest” is the last thing I need.  I remember someone saying that not doing a habit once is ok but doing it twice in a row is the start of a new habit.
Some things becoming easier is not always a good thing.  There are things I build into my life that are sometimes hard work but hard work for a worthy cause is always worth it.  When things are too much I ask for and receive help.  My thinking is achieving something good is my aim.  It matters not how I do it as long as its legal and does not hurt another.  At times not doing it will not help me do it.  Sometimes I just need to turn up and hear that.
