The only thing we knew about Henry Porter is that his name wasn’t Henry Porter.” (Bob Dylan: Brownsville Girl)
The last couple of days have been different to what was expected. At church yesterday Merril got to talking to a registered nurse who has done study like she is doing. He advised her 20 hours was expected for each course rather than 40.
Merril looked it up. Sure enough Merril was to do 40 hours rather than 80 and she had done what was required in the first place. So rather than a quick rest and study she could have a leisurely rest before we went out.
It may have been too leisurely. I knew I was cactus but I only found out later Merril was too. We had organized to go somewhere in the city we had not been and then go out to dinner with a friend.
Fortunately, the area was familiar to Merril. Except it seems the last kilometre or so. We got lost but Google maps came to our aid. We got there a little later than we thought, but it was worth it.
We met our friend and experienced a different type of service. It reminded me more of a large what we call a home group rather than a church service (home groups are where people gather to do everything that we experienced). The highlight for me was people talking about their own experiences. There were actually quite a number of guys and depression was a theme. That was weird for me as I had been in a zoom session the day before and guys were mentioning the same thing.
Anyway we both enjoyed our time. Merril was also engrossed in the old architecture. I love such stuff too and gravitate to it on most visits to unknown places. But perhaps I was distracted. It was close to 8pm and I was ready to eat.
Our friend had booked a table at a Turkish restraint. Merril and I do enjoy trying different national foods. We had never been out to a Turkish restaurant before.
It was so worth it. The food was delicious. Merril and I had one of the remains of a dish for lunch and it was not what I had purchased and was beautiful.
We ate outside and when we went inside to pay it was obvious we were the last people there. Chairs on tables and no one else there sort of gave it away.
Our friend had commented that I was obviously a morning person. It was probably to my stupefied look It was only on the trip home I found out Merril was pretty cactus too.
We were home by about 10pm and the day ended pretty quickly.
Ps. Merril has since discovered she has 8 hours to go which is now 5. Last day. Big finish.
