Tribrach

How fortunate am I?  In this instance the jury is still out on that one.
The reason I say that is it is dictionary day, and my finger fell on a word I had never heard of.  “Tribrach.”  It is something I am sure surveyors are familiar with, but for me it is the first time I have ever come across the word.
My first thought was I need to google this.  I did come across an article I found incredibly helpful that asked the question, “what is a tribrach?”  (https://www.engineersupply.com/What-is-a-tribach.aspx) My thoughts exactly.  It offered this explanation. “A tribrach is a special plate that can be used to attach any type of surveying equipment (including theodolites, total stations, GNSS antennae) to a tripod. It will allow you to place the instrument in the same position over a specific marker point with a much greater level of precision by loosening and tightening a lock that adjusts the instrument base along a horizontal plane. It has two triangular metal plates that are connected at the corners by leveling thumbscrews.”
There were heaps of other references, though when I awoke this morning, I had no thought of going down this road.  The dictionary changed that.  Articles like “Surveying Tribrach Guide | Best Practices and Functions.”  Ok I will admit it, I would not know if best practices where being practiced.  In fact, I would probably be sus of a surveyor if I knew he was just practicing.
And this article “Surveyors Tripod (a guide to) Surveyor Insider.”  Obviously someone has infiltrated the Surveying fraternity.
I did not read the article but I imagine it is a guide like a Sherpa helping someone traverse Mt Everest.  They would ensure I was properly kitted up in warm cloths, study boots, sun glasses to battle the glare, a hoodie or thick beanie, and a walking stick.  We would set out together and they would find a Surveyors Tripod containing a tribrach.
Though I must confess I thought there would be shops that had such things.  But this is all news to me.  I will defer to the guide.
