I heard someone talking about volunteering.  They were probably the brightest person I have ever heard.  That was the way they came across anyway.
They were saying how it is important a person finds their fit.  The aim is joy in the activity.  To allow the passion free reign.  Something they did not say but I feel strongly about is if their activity is in a space used by others it is important to ensure their activity does not impinge on the activity that follows.   Merril will tell you that when I do something I work to make it look like I was never there when that is possible.  That is the place looks better different but nothing indicates work recently done.
This person was saying that they try different things.  It tied in with what I heard the other day about someone.  They were keen to help in some way  They said that first up they were involved in looking after really young kids.  They said they lasted two weeks.  It became obvious to them and to the kids that they were not a right fit.
Rather than preserving at something that was not bringing them pleasure, they abandoned what they were doing for the good of everyone.
It is so easy to feel bad about such a thing.  Like a failure.  Yet an aspect of failure to me is keeping going in something that is not you.  Soldiering on when to do so is to stand in the way of another who may have a passion for such things.
One of the biggest issues I faced when running a voluntary organization was the decision as to whether to put someone into a spot because it was needed rather then because they were the right person for the job.
It varies, and what is needful needs to be filled, but it is my thought that the one in charge does what needs to be done rather than having a person not made for the job in the job.  So much damage can be done by the wrong person whereas so much good can be done by the right person.
This person was saying that finding your fit satisfies.  Often it is trial an error, but most know what they are passionate about.
