Tooth Ache

​Incredible how one little tooth demands my attention.  It is not like it is a vague pain that can be dealt with at some stage.  It is more like a red light special.  It has a flashing light that says, “deal with me now!”
It had been sending a message that there may come a time when this will need to be dealt with.  It sure has reached the stage of needing to be dealt with.  I rang the dentist.  There was only one appointment left before Friday.  That was today at 3.50.  It was not the sort of thing I could defer.  The pain screamed at me now.  Having it dealt with yesterday would be best, but if later today is the best that can be done, then I reckon let’s do it.
Going to bed at 7.30 is early even for me.  I had taken Panadol for the pain.  I woke up at 10.30 still in pain.  I was informed those Panadol’s do not seem to work.  I was directed to what do and knocked myself out.  They worked.  Trouble is, I feel really cactus today.
I don’t like taking tablets, but I will.  Merril will tell you that.  So will my doctor.  He had prescribed something to take and I had to fess up I had not been taking them. Blood tests had revealed no change in what he was wanting dealt with.  He did not up the dose when I told him I had not been taking them.  He said take them and we will have another blood test down the track and see how it is going.  All is good now.  It’s working.
So today I am sort of zombie like.  Bed seems a really good option.  I have been starting my day the same way for yonks.  I did the same today but in a different order.  It has actually made me think of any acute pain I have had to deal with.  What has seemed common to the all, is they have all demanded my attention.
Like with this tooth, the pain may emulate from what I would consider an insignificant part of the body.  However when something goes wrong I can see it is not insignificant at all.  The rest of me may be fine (I know that is debatable) but while I am thankful for it, it really does not demand my attention like the tooth is doing.
For me, any pain needs to be dealt with.  It should not be just brushed aside or buried, but the right cure applied at the right time.  I know a tooth ache is not a big deal compared to what some face, but it is a big deal for me right now.
Here’s hoping that a trip to the dentist this afternoon administers the right cure at the right time for my tooth.  After all I have places to go, things to do, people to see.  To do all I need to, I need this tooth fixed.  Only eight hours to go till my appointment.  I hear the bed calling.
