Together We Can

I am constantly amazed at how things come together.
I have been giving thought all day to the fact that no one really has it all together.  I am just as guilty as the next person for it, but so often it is said, “oh I wouldn’t do that.”  And it is probably true.  Yet there are things that I would do that others would say “oh I wouldn’t do that.”
It is like setting myself up as the standard for behaviour.  Yet from what I see there is no human being living on this earth that is the epitome of perfection.  Some follow the piper thinking anything goes, while others set hard rules - but without intervention nothing works.
I guess it is like the words of a song I have quoted before and am fond of saying, “I’m not one who’s got it all in place / telling you what you should do / No I’m just one old hungry beggar showing you where I found food.”
The thing that solidified it for me was I was watching a documentary about a band that had won all sorts of awards.  The lead singer said, “fame has a secret.” “There is no such thing as famous.”  He went on to say “the only people you are famous to is people who don’t know you.”
To me that sort of thing is a bit of a mantra.  I will live my life giving it my best shot and maybe be an example of a good person or a be a mentor to others.
That to me is good and right but I will never forget that I am what I am due to many factors and I could quiet easily be very different.  It may be an overworn phase but “there but for the grace of God go I.”
That is why I will always try to be there for the person that has a heart to do it right, but is honest enough to admit to having and sometimes succumbing to struggles.  I am that person and everyone I know is that person.  The difference to me is some will not admit it.  And as with every problem in life it cannot be fixed if not admitted to.
Certainly there are those I like to emulate but even the mighty fall.  I may be disappointed but my thinking remains I am responsible for me.  What happens is not the key for me but how I react to what happens.
That is why I am so disinclined to set myself up and inclined to assist.  It can be me that has a fall or has seemingly unanswerable questions - so I want it to be me that is there to assist another.
I totally believe no person is an island and groups are the way to go.  If one falls others assist.  Together we can.
