To Do

Big day.  Merril and I knew it was coming and did not mind but we are both glad it is over.
We had volunteered to clean and set up a place.  This physical distancing is a challenge.  I used a tape measure for some things to determine the distance apart chairs needed to go.  I needed to put out 70 chairs.  I was really surprised how much trouble I had doing it while maintaining the right distances both beside and in front and back of chairs.  I did get in 70 chairs.  It took a bit of creativity.
It took Merril and I about an hour 45 to do all that needed to be done, and it will never take less time.  No builders had been working this week so there was no mopping to do.
After this we had decided to go home for a coffee and put the trailer on the car.  While home we agreed to meet someone while they did what they needed to do.  We stayed with them and it took about an hour.
After that we knew we had two trips to the dump to make.  First we needed to load the trailer and then deposit the contents.  The first trip involved a lounge suite.  Two chairs and a couch.  They were big and heavy but the fitted onto the trailer.  We tied them down and headed off.  It turned out to be relatively easy.  That was a huge relief.  It was the one I had been unsure of.
The second load was general household stuff.  Doors, an old wheelbarrow, pots, wood and other things.  We managed to pack both the car and the trailer.  The dump was busy but the person in attendance helped us backing the trailer into the right spot.  Both Merril and I do not have the knack of backing a trailer, but the person helping said that was the easiest one they had ever done.  Well done Merril I reckon.
We debated about lunch but decided to go home to have it as it was after three pm and I was expecting a visitor at 4.30.  We no sooner arrived home than the person I was expecting arrived early.
He was there for a chat and to play table tennis.  We had a chat, and I ate lunch while we did.  My table tennis was not good, and I would like to say it was because I was cactus to start with.  But I am just not good.  I go for too much.  Listening to myself would help but I tell myself not to all the time to no avail.
They have gone now, and darkness has fallen.  I have things planned for this weekend but tonight is just a sit and stare meaningfully into the middle distance time.  I reckon I will do that well.  Merril and I might just get takeaway tonight.  Merril does not feel like cooking but we still both feel like eating.
Tonight is normally date night but no fancy restaurant tonight.  We both prefer to eat in and retire early.  There will be other times but tonight is not one of those times.
