I normally do some sort of song and dance when I reach a milestone post.  A song and dance might be a bit rich.  Maybe a warble and jerking motion.
Anyway I reached 2,000 posts eight posts ago.  I find it really interesting these days to determine what I will write about.  I used to have extras I could bung in when inspiration was lacking or I had nothing I just wanted to post.  Not anymore.
Now I write when the inspiration hits and if it does not happen, I write anyway.  In many cases I try to make it time neutral which means it could refer to any day rather than a specific one.  That does not always work but mostly it does.
So this is post 2009.  I am sort of seeing it like years at the moment.  2009 was the year after the GFC hit.  I saw the impact locally as there was a piece of ground for sale and it sat on the market for years after that.  It recently sold and the whole area is now going ahead but it took ages.
I do not remember what happened in all years.  Like 2010 and 2011.  But in 2012 we got married.  In fact our anniversary is this coming Saturday.  My life changed big time then.  Living for over 50 years and then getting married for the first time means there is a lot to get used to.  It was the same for Merril too.  Both of us were over 50 when we married for the first time.
I did have one fella say “there is hope for me yet.”   I agree with that.  To me it may be hard, but it is worth the wait.  I did hear someone say that opposites attract and the thing a person found cute about a partner when courting is often the thing that annoys later on.
Merril and I could not have had a more different heritage.  One came from a Labour background and the other Liberal.  One liked Holdens and the other Fords.  One grew up catholic and the other protestant.
Yet I cannot imagine a better meshing.  We did have the same tastes in music, faith and aspirations for the home.  Merril talks tough but is a softie and I talk soft but can be pretty resolute.  Merril can be pretty dramatic (one person who has known her for years said something like “Merril is involved so there has be to drama.”)  I am generally Mr Cool though Mr Comatose may be closer to it.  We have both needed to adapt and meet somewhere in the middle.
I would not have it any other way.  It makes me really happy that we are heading in the same direction.  We both have the same life aspirations and work together and help each other on the journey.
