Timing

One of my favourite sayings is “available people prepare.”  I received an email during the week with the following quote that reminded me of it. "It is not too late to do what you want to do—if you stop waiting for the time to be right."
It seems to me to be true no matter the stage in life.  I know that with my schooling and work environment (QUT) students were preparing.  It may have been at school taking subjects in the desired direction (I admit I did not know at that stage what I wanted so I took subjects in the general area I wanted to head).  Or the university students studying subjects more intently that relate to the field of endeavour they were interested it.
Even outside of school and university people look into subjects that interest them.  For me it has been Bible, stamps and table tennis I have studied harder than many who do not have the same interest.  They have been my bent.  Someone I know studied their sport big time and received much coaching via the internet.  They have applied practical steps and become very good.
One of the tests I apply to how much someone wants something is to look at their current desires and activities.  Usually I can tell if something is a strong desire or a whim.  Whims to me tend to be ideas that seem good and once fulfilled are quickly discarded.  Something that is a life choice tends to be seen as a current step required to fulfill perceived needs.
One of my pet insights is someone who says this is what I want and does nothing to make it happen.  Such things tend to remain dreams only and never become reality.
To me starting matters.  I do not mind if what I have planned remains uncompleted by me if I am heading in the direction I want.  There is a good chance someone else has a similar dream and maybe what I have started is useful and forms a part of where they are heading.
Anyway I know I am getting longer in the tooth but I still have things I want to achieve.
