Time

I have a mate I play table tennis with who said something a while back that stuck in my mind.  He said, “I know the time ahead of me is less then the time that has gone.”  The older a person gets the truer that is.  For it not to be so I would need to live past 106.  That is not likely in the best circumstances.
I thought this morning of a song I have not heard in several decades that was simply called Time. “He’s on the move at this moment measuring life for you and me.”
It seems time is often looked on as an enemy. “I have so much to do and not the time to do it.” “Time caught up with him.”  Yet it seems to me time is neither an enemy or a friend. It is neutral.  Everyone born is given it.  Some more, some less.  Some lessen their time because of their own actions, while others succumb to that over which they have no control.
Doesn’t matter really.  Having a short or long time is inconsequential if a person is ready to go.  But having said that I really do not think fear is a good motivator.  Sure I may do something because I fear the consequences, but my motive is fear rather than love.  If my fear leads to love well and good, but I just know with me being attracted to something because I want it, is likely to be longer lasting than being attracted to something because I am trying to avoid something.
I can spend my time making good choices or bad choices.  For me it is a mixture of both with balance being on the good side.
It is funny I used the word spend in the last sentence as it relates to time.  I do think that is appropriate.  It is a finite resource.  We are paying consequence of treating the earth like it is an infinite resource when it is finite.  What we have got is all we have got.
Time is the same.  What we have got is all that we have got.  Fear of blowing it should only be a part of the package.  It is not the whole package.
I reckon I have all the time I need.  I can choose to squander it or to make the most of it.  It is often said “they were taken too soon.”  I do dispute that.  Maybe it seems that way in my estimation, but as I often say I do not have the whole picture.
Anyway, it is time to veg at the moment.  I have a busy afternoon planned.
