Dictionary day.  Merril chose the word at random from the dictionary today.  Her finger fell on the word “time.”
There is some dispute about the amount of time the planet has been in existence.  But there is no dispute for me about how long I have been here.  65 years.  It does seem amazing to me that it seems to have sped up the longer I have lived.  It does not seem like long ago I was boarding a bus for North Queensland and was 30.  I remember a guy from New Zealand was sitting next to me and stating how much land was around.
A guy I play table tennis with said he knew the time ahead of him was less than the time already gone.  We do not now what the future holds.  He has had a heart attack recently and been told to rest.
It basically highlights to me that we can (and should) plan ahead, always with the knowledge that our next breath could be our last.  That holds no terror for me having answered the question “if I were to die tonight where would I go?”
This time thing is a double-edged sword to me.  I love life and people and what I am doing, but the older I get it seems the more prone I am to physical ailments that do not bring me pleasure at all.
But having said that I love a good bit of what I have seen and experienced.  When I was a young fella I saw the movie “Blade Runner” (the original one).   What I probably remember clearest was the replicant (bioengineered humanoids that are “retired” after being given false “memories”) at the end saying he had seen the sun set on a different planet but his memories would be “…lost in time, like tears in rain.”
From what I have seen that is the fate of all.  It just seems to me that my memories will either be like “tears in rain” or “laughter in rain.”  I know however I respond to what I see and experience, is my choice.
