Time Well Spent

Once a month I have an early morning get together here.  It is always a bit of a guess as to how many are coming.  Someone had a good idea as to how to get some idea in the future.  I have been doing this for two and a half years.
Yesterday there ended up being 8.  One guy took a couple of meals home in containers.  There are probably 10 meals left.  Some I had never cooked in the first place (which is not counted) as I thought there was too much.  I would rather too much than too little.  If needed I had intended to take some down as a giveaway to a gold coin donation thing we have.  But it was not enough.
The gold coin donation thing was the next activity on our agenda.  Merril and I have set up a couple of tables outside a food pantry with item we only ask a gold coin donation for.  All proceeds go to the food pantry.  I know it is incredible value.  Someone got a mat which I know was worth more than 50 times what they paid.  Still they were happy, as were we.
Many of these items had come from a garage sale about a year ago.  Not much went as it rained on the day, and people did not come out.
One thing we have had to watch though was that people said, “I have a pile of stuff you could have.”  I am sure the day will come when such items are welcome but right now we want to part with what we have.   We give it two days with us and then we take items to Trash and treasure.  They want such things and put a price on what we did not move.  They have a much larger market than us.
We enjoy it big time.  It is great to talk with people and see items go to people who really appreciate them.  In one way it really is win/win, as we move stuff and donate the proceeds and people get affordable items.
Both activities are time well spent and get easier to do the more they are done.
