We hear it all the time, “I don’t have time for that!”
When that is legitimate it is ok.  At other times the person does not have time due to poor time management.  Everything is an impost.  Personally, I would rather have someone say no then yes then no.  I have done the latter myself.  I volunteered to sell stuff.  I was really good at it.  Then I found an excuse and changed my mind.  It caused all sorts of angst.  That was many years ago and fortunately I learned from it.
It is a great unknown, but all being equal, I have about six million seconds to do what I need to.  What do they say “time and tide wait for no man.”   Mozart was 30 something when he died but his music lives today.  My dad had a brother who had a role in Japan, for the signing of the armistice.  He passed on at 30 something.  Jesus was 33 when he died, but he changed the world forever. Age does not automatically equate to worthwhile achievement.  It is what I do with what I have that counts.
Some seem to achieve so much, and then there is me.  Ok I achieved some things but it could have been more.  Thankfully I am not a “what might have been” sort of person.  I like to look forward rather than look back.  Regrets for me are only good to learn from.  I cannot undo the past, but I can learn from it.
Some never get over the past.  It is like they are reliving it.  My yesterday does not need to be my tomorrow.  As good as my past may have been, it is only a memory now, and I have places to go, things to do and people to see.  I am here, and while I am, it is important I do stuff referencing the past (as a learning curve only) for my future.
It is important for me to know what I want and go for it.  There are many things I could do, but they are not what I choose.  What was the saying “the need does not determine the call.”  For sure I could have my hands full, and go mad trying to do everything.  It is probably better for everyone that I do a few things, and let others do the other things that need to be done.
I know my view is simplistic and there are probably many other forces at play, but as a lady on tv today who teaches kids to cook said “keep it simple.”  That is perfect for me, as that is the kinda guy I am.  Besides, I would rather have something to build on, then something that stands alone and can never be added to.
It is not my role to solve everything, but it is my role to solve something.  How this is achieved is up to me.  The important thing is getting it done, not how it is done.  If, among other things, I manage my time well, I can do it.
