Through Good Times and Bad

I like passion. I think I have said something like that before. But hey you get that.
To me it makes all the difference. Give me a passionate person willing to learn over a person who knows their stuff but is ho hum about things.
It seems to be a law of nature that a passionate person gives birth to a passionate person. It seems to be a truism that the most successful organizations have an enthusiastic bunch of people at the helm. That is success measured by satisfied staff and clients and not just making money. Maybe I am missing it, but I seem to see a lot of just the measure of success is how much money you can make.
And it seems to me that people who are passionate about something tend to stay. I was with an organization for a long time that was not my sport or work, and I must admit my initial passion gave way to seeing that things would never change. It is inevitable that passionate people leave such a scenario.
Passionate people want to see things happen and make them happen. They want to be a part of a likeminded team. Together so much can be achieved. That can be for good or bad. It seems very little is impossible for a group of people intent on achieving an achievable (though difficult) goal.
One definition of passion I read was “boundless enthusiasm.” Some of the synonyms listed included fervour, fire, and zeal. To me each of those words fits with passion.
It is actually what I look for when putting a team together. Some tasks do not require a passion but just need to be done. Though even in that scenario a passionate person wants to do the best they can rather than just complete a job.
I cannot remember what show it was, but a really famous high up lady was taking about her beginnings. One of the things I did like about her was she had been there done that. She said for a while she cleaned toilets, but she determined she was going to be the best toilet cleaner out there.
I like that. Passion in the seemingly mundane. But I reckon everything builds character. The position does not make the person but the person makes the position. To me it is pointless to think once I am top dog I will be different. Being better is a process not a conclusion.
I do reckon passionate people see beyond the mundane to the goal. It is the goal that keeps the fire burning inside. There is some inspiration along the way but much of the journey is perspiration. Passion sees something through with the goal in mind.
