This Means War

Inspiration can come from many different sources.  Sometimes it may be something I read, at other times it is something I think.  It can be something someone says, and sometimes there is none and I write but I really shouldn’t.
What I do like about writing though is this is now.  It is me writing, real time. No one can say “this is so yesterday” because it is not.  It is now.  It is not futuristic it is nowistic.  That wasn’t a word until I made it up, though the red line under it may be just because I spelt it wrong.  Nowistic (adjective) “the present time.” Pronounced - Now Is Tick.  From English Word Nowistic meaning the present time.  I just made that up too, but it does sound credible.  What I do like is, when you read this it is now too, so anything I write is up to the minute.
Merril said something that really got me thinking.  She said “you can’t go into a war and not expect to be shot at.” I cannot say it was like I was hearing it for the first time, because I actually was hearing it for the first time.  I must admit I am yet to see someone come running back to their buddies saying “that nasty man shot at me.”
I did enjoy the movie “The Three Amigos”   They thought they were performing a show in Mexico, until a real bullet caused a real wound.  It was only after that they knew what they were engaged in, and won the day.  I use the word “plethora” (large amount) as a result of that movie.
I do think whatever I am engaged in, is like a war.  Everything involves taking territory.  I may be promoting a product.  My goal is market share.  That involves seizing territory.  Samsung phones have done it at Apples expense, though Apple still have the lions share.  I could be engaged in some humanitarian endeavour.   Generally that means I undo harm caused by another.  I take back territory.  There are many things I can do, that mean the taking of territory.
The funny thing is though, a lot of time there is opposition.  I don’t know that I have ever just waltzed in and taken what I want.  Mostly it involves overcoming opposition and holding, before advancing.
I heard someone say once that life can be like an away game.  I guess that stuck with me because I am into sport.  I reckon they are right.  When Queensland plays NSW in State of Origin in NSW, we may be winning, but the crowd is not a good guide.  The silence is deafening.  When the Olympics were in Sydney, we came fourth.  I do not know we have done it since.  That was home ground advantage.  So often it seems one of the goals of the coach is to take out the crowd.  It is great to be cheered on.  That is why in soccer there are home and away games.  Winning away is very different to winning at home.
It sounds incredibly mercenary, but the object is to win.  It doesn’t matter if it is war, product promotion, humanitarian endeavours, or whatever.  I don’t go into it to lose.  I must remember there are others diametrically opposed to my aim as their aim is to win to.  If I can, I need to ensure that does not happen.
