The Tables Have Turned

I actually did all I set out to do yesterday.  Does not happen often.  But I did feel good about it.  Today I did not plan.  I just knew there were things on, and I would just go with it.
The first appointment on the agenda was a zoom meeting out of Melbourne.  We have done 9 now with one to go.  I have really enjoyed the sessions and probably more and more each week.
Today’s topic was intimacy.  It is something guys often do not do well.  If my experience is anything to go by that is true.  I did like the steps of communication with intimacy and openness being the fifth rung on the ladder.  I had to admit that I have been on all rungs but I tend to live on the third.  That is the sharing of ideas.  It is good but not the best.  What was highlighted to me is that on the fifth rung there is a vulnerability.  I can be unwilling to go there.
It reminded me of an illustration I saw recently that I do not reckon I will never forget.  A guy gave a rope to two people.  One held one end and the other held the other end while he held the middle.  They were to keep it taut while he climbed a ladder.  As he climbed higher the people came closer together.  He was illustrating how keeping God in the centre of a relationship brings people closer together.
So I had that session and I think the others were into it to as it is the first time the meeting went longer that one hour…It went for about 85 minutes.
It was probably the first time ever I felt time constraints.  I know I needed to be at the place we clean by 9 am.  I was a little late but that was ok.  I did what I normally do and the others did what they had to do.  All was done.
There is an advantage though, as it is next to an open food pantry and the items for sale are good value.  I am told I gravitate to the chocolate section, and I do.  I did not feel the need today as the other day I bought a box that would have been half price.  We are working on the chocolates.
After we came home, we needed to pack a table we had sold online.  We were very pleased to sell it as it had been there a while.  The person wanted it and wanted it now.  They live on the gold coast and we were delivering it to their brother in Brisbane.  It was a low round table with a very thick glass top.  We were told to and so left it on the guy’s veranda.  He was not home when we took it.
That was on the way to another engagement we had today and that was to visit Merril’s sister who had visitors from overseas.  We went with another of Merril’s sisters and her dad.  A beautiful spread was put on for us and the conversation was great.  Including two kids there were 11 of us around the table.
I must admit I was starting to wilt by the end.  Earlier we had been shown their beehive.  They are European bees.  But the highlight for me was the company and the food.
We are home now.  Bed seems very attractive.  Tomorrow half the day is busy.  I can guarantee the other half will not be.
