The Odds Increase

It hardly seems profound but to me it is. “The odds increase the more you try.” (James Clear)
I happen to believe that and really like it.  To me it is a principle that applies big time to everything I do.
I was made wicket keeper for our cricket team.  The reason was my bro and I used to spend hours throwing a golf ball against a stone wall and catching it when it bounced back.  The thing was it could bounce back at any angle depending on where it hit the wall.  We were training our hand eye co-ordination and reflexes.
Therefore when the time came to pick a wicket keeper I was chosen as I had spent a lot of time watching a ball into my hands.
I used to get training at table tennis.  I never became a top player but I really wanted to be able t return what was hit to me.  This was so the trainer felt like the practice session was not only doing me good but them as well.  I reckon I became quiet proficient at returning so my trainer could hit again.  Probably a highlight to me was a trainer saying “now I can practice to.”
The odds really did increase the more I tried.  I know when I first start in anything I miss more than I get.  But the more I practiced the more the odds increased of me getting it right.  Watching learners these days I do not mind seeing misses when I see the person is doing it right.  There will come a time when they get it right more than get it wrong.  The odds increase.
I know I am getting log in the tooth but the principle is still the same.  New tasks are more hit and miss then I would like but there comes a time when I am proficient at a task.  It is not just some innate ability (there can be that) but there must be practice.  Practice, practice, practice is the only way for the odds to increase.
