The New Normal

I think I have worked out the new normal.  Weird days.
Yesterday was one.  Not that I remember much about it without having a think.  I do know we had booked to have an electrician in, and he had said he would be here early.  He was here not long after 8am.
We had smoke alarms installed to ensure compliance with government regulations.  A dodgy switch needed to be fixed (in fact when he had seen a picture of it he said do not use that switch), and believe it or not a light had to be changed.  Normally that is something we would do, but this was in the shed and so high it needed a long ladder and no fear of heights to change.  Climbing ladders is not one of my strengths these days and climbing high ladders is not something I want Merril to do.
Anyway he fixed all the stuff.  While he was here Merril went out with a friend.  Merril had asked “do you want to go somewhere known, or to for me to abduct you?”  The person had responded they wanted to be abducted but I so reckon Merril needs to work on her abduction skills.  The place she took her was closed.
When the electrician finished what he was doing he explained to me the cost and what he had done.  While doing so my phone rang.  He pointed that out to me and I said, “if they love me they will ring me back.”  Almost immediately the phone rang again.  I pointed out to the electrician that they loved me.  He left.  What I did not know is it was a completely separate call.
I had emailed another company about something they had supposedly fixed that had gone bung again.  The first time they can respond is Thursday morning.  I booked them in.
A little while later I had a zoom meeting I normally have of a Tuesday.  Only one other person was there.  I really enjoyed talking with them, but they were having trouble connecting.  It was an incredibly disjointed meeting and shorter than normal.
I then went to do stuff elsewhere and did some but decided it would be better to do today as the place was to be used the way it is.
I went home.  Merril was there so later we visited the dog next door to make sure all was ok. It was.  The owner is due back any time but is two weeks on and two weeks off.  They have asked if we could look out for the dog while he is away.  We are happy to do that and love the dog.
In fact, I sometimes do a bark (I do a pretty good dog bark) to make sure she is there and well.  She responds with a wholehearted bark.
The rest of the day was pretty normal.  Today promises to be a big one but I like it that way.  Big days followed by quiet ones.  I live in hope anyway.
