The Missing Last Post

Did you miss me?  Don’t answer that.  I did not post yesterday morning as the day started unusually for me.  There was nothing unusual about the time I arose which was about 4am.  What was unusual was that I was where I was going before 5am.  Normally I am up early at home.  This time I was up early and went out.
I decided I would not add a post.  So I went out to make sure all was in place and ready to go for a monthly do.  Normally it is at my place but this time it was elsewhere.  I had transported all our stuff for it to be at the place it was being held.
Well almost all.  I realized I had not brought tongs for the BBQ.  The guys that were cooking found one so that was ok.  They arrived around 5.45am to cook.  There were sausages, bacon and onions.  Merril cooked eggs at home and brought them to the place.
I found out that I had bought chicken and beef sausages.  That explained the white stuff.  None of us had seen such a thing before.  A check of the packet revealed it was part chicken.  Anyway they tasted delicious. 
The guy in charge said if we had twice as many as usual that would be good (we had put some effort into promoting the event).  I normally get about 12 along for the feed, chat and talk.  So I thought 24 would be good.  Heaps had been invited.  As it turned out there were exactly 24!  It was 23 but to my surprise someone wandered in.  Fair dinkum I was gob smacked to see exactly that number.  I was catering for more than usual.  All the toast went which I have never seen before.
A former neighbour said he would do scones for next time.  I’ll be in that!
It was a good morning.  After a clean up we had a rest and then returned for a bigger event in the evening.  We are about halfway there.  So far so good.
