The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

I was not going to watch it but I did.  I hung around.  There was a reason for that.
Anh of “Anh’s Brush with Fame,” was painting and interviewing  actor Samuel Johnson who’s biggest role was in “The Secret Life of Us”.
I confess I had never heard of him and knew nothing about him.  Yet I felt so much he was such a down to earth person.  He was famous but seemingly unaffected.  He got the job in “The Secret Life of Us” after turning up for the audition probably hung over and not having learned his lines.  When asked why, he told them he really did not care.  They decided he suited the role to a tee.  They virtually needed to talk him into signing.  He only did so as he was told someone he really wanted to act with had signed.
He has given up acting for the moment as he is raising money in the fight with cancer.  He embarked on that because a sister he was very close to died of it.  At about 10 she was diagnosed with bone cancer and beat it.  About 23 she was diagnosed with cancer of the womb and beat it.  Later she was diagnosed with breast cancer and died of it.  He rode a unicycle around Australia to raise awareness of it.
Something he said I felt was really spot on.  (He actually said many things but this one I remember).  When making a point about something he said many people watching would be able to relate to what he was saying.
The thing that I really liked was him saying something like life is like smelling a Daffodil and being hit by a ball in the temple.  In other words, there is good and bad stuff that happens to everyone.  Sometimes the bad stuff can happen in the middle of good stuff and can be so unexpected.
I think “ain’t that the truth.”  Stuff happens I do not understand.  Maybe I will one day or maybe I won’t.  The point for me is to “just keep swimming.”  I have no intention of letting a “why?” stop me.
Why’s are definitely perplexing, but I just want to live my life.  It is up to me to make the most of it.  I have enough trouble trying to understand what is happening with me, to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to understand what is happening in another.
