Thankful

I think I will do today what I heard someone suggest yesterday.  They said it would be good to have a “thankful day.”  So instead of griping and groaning today I am going to concentrate on what I am thankful for.  I must admit there is a lot.
I reckon I really have it pretty good.  I know things are reported that are bad in this country but for the majority things are pretty good.
Right now I enjoy peace within these borders.  It does seem the world is closing in, but I am thankful the worst of it has not reached these shores yet.  Indiscriminate bad stuff does happen, but for me and mine things are ok.
I am really thankful for the roof over my head.  For sure at night I hear noises I do not understand, but imagination makes them worse than they are.  I can go back to sleep without dire consequences.
I am thankful for our garden.  Ok it gets out of hand easily and calling the front a “bush garden” allows for more scope for wildness, but a couple of times a year the wildness seems out of hand and needs dealing with. (I call it a bush garden because a passer-by said, “I like your bush garden” and I thought “yeah.  I’ll call it a bush garden.”)
I am thankful that someone actually came around to do a quote on a front fence we have been wanting a quote on for ages.  I saw him doing something in the neighbourhood and got his card.  He is local and enjoys local work.  His work looks good.  The price will be interesting.  Hopefully I will stay thankful.
I am thankful for my friends.  I have lots of good memories and people I know like me for me, rather than what they can get out of me.
I am thankful for the peace I have.  For me that is a biggy.  It makes a huge difference to me knowing even when bad stuff happens, I can remain thankful that things work out for good.  It may be a long term thing I don’t understand right now, but I can be confident I will get the picture.
I know I could easily get carried away with this thankfulness thing, but even science has proven being thankful is healthier than complaining all the time.  I am happy to give it a go.
