Thank You

I guess it is sort of a mellow day.  A self-reflection day.  It almost seems these holidays are a chance to stop and assess where I have been and where I am going.  Though it is on a gammy leg right now.  I asked the nurse to count the stiches in my leg (it was look at and redress day).  She counted 45.  I had guessed 30.  But 45 is more impressive.
The words of the song I thought of today was, “I’m not one who’s got it all in place telling you what you should do, no I’m just one old hungry beggar showing you where I found food.”
I am glad to be a Christian with a lot of sources.  If something is good, I will take it on board.  It is what is said that matters to me rather than who says what.  Right now, I see so many celebrities endorsing a product.  Yet I feel success in one area does not necessary qualify me as an authority in another.
Authorities to me are anyone who has been there, done that.  If I want the opinion of a mechanic I do not ask a florist.  Even if the florist is the best in the world.  I do not discount the thoughts of the florist, and it may be they are right, but I am more likely to act on the thoughts of the mechanic.
As far as I am concerned every voice is significant.  I am the one who potentially missed out if I try and pick and choose what voices may be significant to me.   Some may carry more weight in their particular field of expertise but often a key is found from some seemingly unrelated source.  Everyone I know of recognizes an absolute truth despite the “in” fade “my truth.”  When I recognize something as true, I try to make it a foundation and something safe to build on.
I guess it is why I am a people person.  I love to listen to what people say.  I reckon the only way to learn is to listen and do as appropriate.  Everyone’s story is at least an interesting yarn, and occasionally there are nuggets for me there.
