Thank you

It has been quite a day. We clean our church of a Saturday morning and set up for Sunday. Today we did what we could but could not set up because we were having a thank you lunch for volunteers.
The table (which was three tables lined up) had been set up beautifully. Others had gone in last night and done it so all was in readiness. It ended up there was a perfect number of chairs even though we did not know who was going to be there.
he pastor who was doing the cooking is from a small Island in the Pacific. Boy does he know how to cook. The food was scrumptious. There was stuff left so I brought home some pork sausages and that is what we will have for dinner.
So all the other cleaning was done and the dinner place floor was blown out and mopped. It did not take long and I went off and bought a few things we needed.
We had a couple of hours before the thank you dinner but I could not tell you what I did. But it did not seem long and we were back there again. I always find it incredible how so much preparation goes into something then it is over so quickly. But for sure we all ate and were satisfied.
Merril and I decided we would go home at the end of it and set up later in the evening. We slept and then I watched you tube music videos.
What really struck me at that time was the pointlessness of worry. To me it is right to do what can be done but worry never achieves anything. In fact I can only think of negative things worry achieves – particularly long term and habitual worry. Another thing easier said then done, but it is always worth it not to worry.
It also got me thinking again about hope. It is such a buzz word right now. I am just thankful my hope is built on something unchangeable. I do not know what the future holds but I do know who holds the future.
When we went to set up the hall Merril spent time getting the words of songs we are going to sing. She has volunteered to be one of the ones who handles the computer projection. I did other things while Merril was doing that, and eventually it was time for home. We both marvelled how it gets late early.
But our hearts are in it.
