Teamwork

I have been thinking about something that to me seems crucial to achieving.
I am encouraged to display strong individualism.  It seems to be hammered into me through any form of advertising. There is a big emphasis on achieving stuff alone.  Being a man’s man.
That is not the problem to me, and reckon it is important that I come at life as a winner.  That I don’t put my self down in false humility and neglect the opportunities that lie before me.
Yet it seems in many cases only half the story is being told.  I know I have strengths and abilities in some areas.  I also know I do not have strengths and abilities in all areas.  Yet when I take the time to look around, there are those who have strengths in areas crucial to what I am trying to achieve. 
Anyone who knows me knows I am big on balance.  They know I do not pretend to be more than I am.  But what I have seen, and I don’t know how this works, two can often achieve more than double what one can.  I may have plans, dreams, and aspirations but I know I do not have everything needed for the growth potential of that idea.
I think of the likes of Steve Jobs.  To me Apple products are amazing.  Yet he was a good ideas and organizing man.  He needed sales people, outlets, those that understood how things worked and could maybe tweek things, outlets, accountants, supply chain people, and believers in his products to name some.
By himself he could go so far.  With others he could achieve, and did, a globally useful product in the hands of many.
The point for me is he could only achieve so much alone.  To achieve what was possible he needed a team.
It seems to me that is so often true.  None of us, no one, zilch, zero have nothing to contribute.  Everyone does.   It does not matter if the role is something not seen to be there.  It is known by the producers that without it, potential will not be reached.
I reckon it is up to me to ensure I do not neglect whatever is my bent.  It is useful and needed and can be if I just do what I do.  With the right team, doing something myself is guaranteed to get me so far.  Doing something together is guaranteed to get me further.
