Talented

Every now and then I read or hear things that say to me “keep going.”  It may not be actually those words, but it is something that keeps me heading in a certain direction.  It’s funny it seems that if I am looking for good advice I will find it.  When I am not looking it may be there but passes me by,
I guess that sort of goes for what I heard yesterday.  Someone was talking about passion.  They said it is not so much the making of mistakes that matters it is the being passionate about what you want.
Mistakes are a part of the human race.  I do all I can to avoid them, but I am not immune to blowing it. But there is a huge difference between making mistakes born in inertia and making mistakes heading for something.
One it seems to me is the product of an “I don’t care” attitude.  A product of idle hands and heart.  The other is a product of human nature but is not an end in itself.  It is a lesson learned on the way to something better.
It seems to me it could be strange to be thinking this way at this age.  But this principle applies no matter if I am 5 or 85.  To me principles stand, and feelings are fleeting.  It is the using what I have got that matters.
Some it seems are incredibly talented while others may have one thing they are good at.  Yet my competition is not with another but with myself.  What others have need not be a source of jealousy or a reason not to try, but a source of inspiration and a reason to try the harder.
I have heard the phrase “use it or lose it before” but it seems to me to have great application to whatever talents I may have.  Having a single talent is not a crime against myself and humanity.  Not using it is.
